Proudly standing nearly 80km south of Vienna, the impressive massif of Schneeberg can even be seen from the capital on clear days. Since 1897, the Schneeberg Railway has been comfortably transporting guests to the highest mountain in Lower Austria. During the journey with the Salamander trains (~40 min.) or the nostalgic steam train (~90 min.), guests enjoy breathtaking nature, which changes with every meter of altitude. This top excursion destination operates from May to mid-December: Look forward to a unique mountain and railway experience characterized by nature, enjoyment, and history on the highest mountain in Lower Austria. The Empress Elisabeth Memorial Church, the Art Nouveau Jewel on Schneeberg

At the highest mountain in Lower Austria, at an altitude of 1796 meters, the Elisabeth Church is located near the mountain station of the Schneeberg Railway and the Hochschneeberg mountain inn. From the viewing platform, you have a view of the valley and the beautiful surrounding mountains.
